JV Boy's take tough loss to Rebels
The Junior Varsity Cavaliers took on the JV Boy’s of Effingham County. After a first half that saw the Cavs give up more opportunities to the Rebels than they needed, that allowed Effingham to take a 20-9 halftime lead.Jr. Tyler Best opened the second half with four straight points. The Rebels stretched the lead back to 26-16 with 2:54 to go in the third quarter. The Cavs are going to have to play error free ball, the Rebels are extremely athletic and move well without the ball. Tyler Best cuts into the Effingham lead with a three, the old fashioned way to make it 30-22. Soph. Dominic DeMasi grabs a Rebel missed shot and outlets to fellow Soph. Seth Rodgers for the lay up to close the gap to four 30-26 to start end the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both teams are trying to find an offensive groove and Soph. Cole Baham added a two after another Calvary forced turnover to make it 32-30 Rebels with 4:33 to go in the fourth. Effingham increased their lead back to 35-30 with a clutch three. Soph Jaime Bragg made one of two to cut it back to 35-31 with 2:34 left in the game. Effingham countered with a two of their own, to pad the lead 39-33 at the 1:26 mark.
Calvary has to fould and Effingham makes their free throws to close out the game.
