Calvary Swim brings home first Medals in School History
The five ladies that represented Calvary at the GHSA State Meet in Atlanta at Westminster made history for the young program. In only the second season for Calvary having a swim program, five girl's advancing to state was exciting. Sr. Emily Leach and Sr. Brigette Hoang both reached state on relay teams in their first year of high school swimming. The first relay team consisted of Hoang, Soph. Nicole Weed, Fr. Lydia Hartman and Fr. Patricia Forrester for the 200 Yard Medley Relay, which jumped from 35th to 20 over all at the end of the prelim heats Wednesday night, just missing the top 16 to qualify for the finals with a time of 2:02.35 a 4 second jump. The second relay team competed in the 200 Freestyle, with Sr. Leach, Soph. Nicole Weed and the two Fr. Lydia Hartman and Patricia Forrester. With 39 relay teams Calvary placed 24th overall. Fr. Lydia Hartman competed in the 200 IM and finished 14 out 29 which placed her in the consolation heat with the 9-16 qualifiers. Fr. Patricia Forrester placed second over all in her two events in the prelim heats, with a time of 56.22 in the 100 Butterfly and a time of 52.32 in the 100 Freestyle. Forrester placed 2nd overall in the State for the Butterfly and WON the GHSA A-AAAA State Championship in the 100 Freestyle. Congratulations to all the Lady Cavs!
