METTER-The Region 3-A Tournament championship was a case of dej? vu all over again for the Calvary Day girls basketball team.
For the third year in a row, the Cavaliers made the championship game only to have to settle for runner-up as Emanuel County Institute dominated from start to finish.

After last season's region championship defeat, the Cavs were eliminated in the second round of the GHSA Class A state tournament. The year before, however, the Cavs claimed the state championship.
"It's not over," said Calvary Day coach Jackie Hamilton. "We don't like the way it tuned out but we still have the state tournament to prepare for. It just wasn't our night tonight."
The Bulldogs' hit several big 3-pointers to take the early lead and cemented it by continuously pounding the inside with forwards Valese Mcallister and Angelika Lundy.
The duo combined for 36 points and 25 rebounds-equaling Calvary's team rebounding total.
The victory keep ECI undefeated on the season at 22-0. ECI will enter next week's Class A state tournament as the No. 1 seed from the region.
Sonny Canady led Calvary with 23 while Kelsey Ellis had 11 and Rachel LeGear added 10.
McAllister led ECI with 20 points, Lundy had 16 and Niamani Carlyle, whose NBA-range 3-pointers gave ECI the early momentum, finished with 17.
